IGNITE

At Don Mills Collegiate Institute, Ignite is a charitable arts movement that encompasses the creative talents its student body has to offer. In acts accompanied by the work of its production, fashion, finance, and media teams, a team of performers take to the stage to convey messages of solidarity and strength in a thematically united way. After two years of being a videographer, I stepped up to be this year’s Director of Film—a position that put me at the forefront of Ignite’s artistic endeavors and media production. I led a team of twenty multimedia artists collectively responsible for the documentation of raw footage that—eventually—would be exhibited on the night of the show. Together, we spent 5-10 hours a week filming, collaboratively making plans for the months ahead, and tending to tasks I had previously delegated.

As Ignite’s executive media producer, I took charge of the assembly our final products; after all, the onus to spearhead the artistic direction of Ignite’s visuals rested entirely on me. Upon sifting through hours of footage, I crafted numerous promotional videos, spoken word interludes, and transitional vignettes using Adobe software.
